THE ACCOMMODATIONS
Both the Hawkes River and Southern Backwaters Lodges consist of four guest bedrooms with two single beds in each. Dining and sitting area, bathrooms, showers and electricity. Our cook will prepare hearty breakfasts and home-style meals each day. Enjoy fresh cooked salmon or trout whenever you feel for it. Daily lunches are also provided for each day on the river. Hawke River is now offering private cabin accommodations at an extra cost.

THE FISHING
The Hawke's River Lodge offers first class Atlantic Salmon and Trout Fishing. Atlantic Salmon range from 4 lbs. up to 25 lbs. Trout from pan size up to 6 lbs. or more.

Southern Backwaters Lodge offer excellent fly rod and spin cast fishing for large speckled trout, sea trout and arcti char. Trout average 2-6 lbs. or more.

COME PREPARED
Labrador temperatures may change quickly at anytime. You should bring sleeping bag, some warm and light clothing. Also bring rain gear, chest waders with non-slip soles, insect repellent and sunglasses. Don't forget to bring your camera for spectacular shots.

SEASON, RESERVATION, & DEPOSITS
Salmon fishing starts early July and ends mid September. Trout fishing starts mid June and ends mid September. Fly Rods should be 8-9 feet long with 6-8 floating lines. Tapered leaders should be 8-10 pound test.

To confirm reservations the deposit is $300 per person. Rates include accommodations, meals, travel to and from lodge after you arrive here, guides 1X2, boats, motors, life-jackets, etc.

GUIDES
Our guides play a very important part in our business and your vacation. So we will provide you each day with our experienced and professional guides. Your guide will plan each fishing day for your enjoyment and convenience.

SALMON WET FLIES
Blue Charm, thunder & lightning, dusty miller, silver tip, silver grey, green butt, green highlander, black dose, rusty rat, etc. (Flies should be tied fairly light on low water hooks #4,6,8,10) 

DRY FLIES
Rat faced McDougall, royal coachmman, grey wulff, white wulff, lots of orange and brown bugs.

TROUT
Choose a few patterns in various sizes, Royal coachman, coachman, wolly worms, blue dune, black gnat, and lots of orange and brown bugs.

HOW TO GET HERE
Air Canada and Canadian Airlines International operate air service to Deer Lake, Newfoundland and Goose Bay, Labrador with connections available from major centres in the United States and Canada.
By car: Marine Atlantic provides year-round service between North Sydney, Nova Scotia and Port aux Basques (we will provide you with a road map if requested)
Fishermen going to Labrador are responsible for getting to Charlottetown, Labrador. The Trans Labrador Highway is now open to Charlottetown.

THE SCENERY
Enjoy the breathtaking scenery in Labrador and the fun of the vast outdoors. Capture a picture of the many icebergs that linger along the coast during the summer.
 

THE FISHING LOCATIONS

The Hawke's River

The Hawke's River and tributaries is home to 1000's of Atlantic Salmon of all sizes that come back to the clean clear water each summer. Challenge the best fight of them all. Atlantic Salmon on the beautiful Hawke's River.

Ther are several great pools at the base of the falls and extending down river the the lodge.

Trout come out to sea to feed each summer from wintering in the many lakes and tributaries of the Hawk. They'll give you a great fight and provide a deliciuos meal at the table.

Southern Backwaters: (Big Fish with Big Appetites)

The Southern Backwaters Lodge is located in a bay where several rivers flow into the ocean. Large Trout that winter in the lakes and ponds come out the rivers in June to feed. They'll hang around the mouths of the river for several weeks before going back up. Arctic Char are also caught here.

With increasing runs of Atlantic Salmon each summer and a very healthy trout population. We are pleased to offer outdoor sportsmen world class fishing trips.

EASY ACCESS
We have easy access to fishing areas for elderly fishermen or anyone with walking difficulties. Come and join us on the Hawke's River or Southern Backwaters and get ready for some fabulous fishing.
