Hunting

Want to take the hunting trip that you've always dreamed about? We'll take you to remote areas in Newfoundland where hunting is at its very best!

AREAS
Four of our camps are located in area three (3) and reached only by float plane, miles from our float plane base in Northern Newfoundland. Our camps here can accommodate up to four hunters each week, for single game hunts or combination hunts!

Belby and One Thousand Island Ponds are located in area forty-five (45), also in northern Newfoundland. These camps can be reached by ATV or plane, and can also accommodate up to four (4) moose hunters only each week.

Moose antlers are a unique trophy, and are a real prize to take home! The cape may also be taken , if necessary. Moose meat is very delicious to eat, and you will certainly want to take it all back home with you.

Caribou are also excellent to eat! And the large males have spectacular racks of antlers for hunters seeking a trophy of a lifetime! Our success rate have been a perfect 100%!

Portland Creek Outfitters has been selected by its clients to qualify for publication in the book "Top Rated Big Game Hunting"

Each camp is inspected annually by government inspectors and must lodgesexceed Newfoundland Tourist Development requirements. Each camp has guest bedrooms with two single beds in each room.

Cook's and guide's quarters are separate from guest. Our cook will prepare hearty breakfast each morning and hot evening home style meals every evening.

GUIDES
We believe our guides play a very important role in the success of your hunting trip, and our business! We provide experienced, professional guides who will work hard each day to ensure that the hunters get their game. Our guides are dedicated to making your hunting trip an enjoyable and memorable one-time trip of a lifetime!

COME PREPARED

We recommend that all hunters bring high-powered rifles equipped with scopes, that have see-through under open sights. Rifles should be sighted for 150 to 200 yards. Each hunter should bring warm sleeping bags, warm clothing, rubber footwear (approx. 12-16" high,) binoculars, rain gear and of course, a camera for those spectacular pictures of your trip. Because of fly-in camp, you should try to keep your gear as light as possible - approximately 60lbs per person.

MORE INFORMATION

We also offer excellent fishing at Labrador for salmon, brook and sea run trout. The best time to fish in Labrador is late June to late August. Please inquire about our fishing brochures or visit our home page to find out more about fishing.
Sometimes choosing an outfitter can be very difficult. Some outfitters tend to over hunt their area and this makes it very difficult to find game. If you decide to come with us, I'm sure that you will have a successful and memorable hunting or fishing trip.

Hunters should book early to avoid disappointment, because licenses are limited.
